La mayoría de los verbos se conjugan añadiendo “-ed como en el ejemplo "wait".

Verbos Irregulares

Muchos verbos, tales como "have", adoptan formas irregulares en Simple Past. Debes tener en cuenta que sólo utilizamos los verbos irregulares en los oraciones afirmativas. En las formas negativas y preguntas, "did" indica el pasado simple.

To Be

El verbo "be" es también irregular en Simple Past. A diferencia de otros verbos irregulares, hay dos formas en Past Simple: "was" y "were". También tiene diferentes formas de interrogación y negativas. Recuerda que NO SE USA "did" con el verbo "be" en Past Simple.

Modal Verbs

Los Modal verbs se comportan de manera muy extraña en  Simple Past. El verbo más importante a recordar es "must." Pon atención a cómo se convierte en "had to" en Simple Past.


"Must" se convierte en "had to":


  • I must call my wife now.

  • I had to call my wife yesterday.
